Following our recent Annual General Meeting, we are pleased to announce that Liam Atkins has been elected as the new Chairman of the Hastings & Rye Conservative Association.
Liam brings with him a wealth of experience from local government, a background in small business and marketing, and a strong track record of grassroots campaigning. He previously served as a councillor and was the youngest Conservative Group Leader in the country at just 24.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Rob Lee for his service and dedication during his time as Chairman, especially for helping to steady the Association through a challenging period.
Liam takes the helm at a time of change both locally and nationally. With voter frustration high, the rise of Reform, and the challenges of a revitalised left, there’s no room for complacency. But there is room for ambition.
As Liam said at the AGM:
“This Association has huge potential — and I’m determined to build something we can all be proud of. We’re going to work harder, campaign smarter, and turn quiet support into visible momentum.”
In the months ahead, the Association will be launching new events, rolling out a fresh strategy plan, and working more closely with neighbouring constituencies to prepare for upcoming elections — including the Sussex mayoralty and the all-out unitary elections in 2027.
We’re building a modern, member-focused Association with energy, discipline, and purpose. And we want you to be part of it.
