County Councillor for Silverhill and St Helens Division
I am proud to be the Councillor for St Helens ward since 2015 and have been working with residents since then. I have been pleased to make real progress on many issues that local residents have been concerned about and have represented the ward in the Hastings Borough Council Chamber.
Because of my time in both business and local politics, I know that I have skills and experience that enable me to fight for a better deal for residents. I therefore stood for election to the County Council in May 2017 and was elected successfully. Many of the queries that I had responded to in my Borough Council work have been the responsibility of the County Council and I felt that having your Conservative Councillor elected to the County Council would gain more influence for important progress in key issues of concern in St Helens and Silverhill.
I came to Hastings 11 years ago to take over the running of an engineering business in East Sussex that is now being run by my successors enabling me to have time for my Council work.
My wife Sue was a Health Visitor for the NHS which gave me an insight into some of the Health and Care needs being met by the County Council. In addition my work in business over many years has given me a real desire to see employment opportunities increased in Hastings particularly for our young people.
I attend Kings Church and play tenor saxophone in the band, and I also enjoy doing gigs in town from time to time. I’ve always been a bit of a petrol head and my toy is an old Rover 100.
