Rother District Councillor
"I have been married to Adam for twenty four years and we have three happy, industrious and independent-minded children, the youngest being seventeen years old. We have lived locally in East Sussex for twenty years.
Born and brought up in Northumberland, I went to university in London and qualified as a lawyer specialising in corporate finance law with a City of London law firm. More recently, I practised family law in Kent before becoming a district councillor. I am a school governor of two primary schools in Hastings, with a responsibility for pupil premium children. I became a district councillor for Eastern Rother in 2015 and since May 2016 have been the Cabinet member for Public Realm, Culture and Tourism.
For me, getting our children and families right is essential. I place the greatest value on the family unit, whatever its makeup. Promotion of the family as the best basis for society, and families which have the freedom to take responsibility for themselves, promotes social responsibility, a feeling for community and helps develop a strong, compassionate and giving society.
People are amazing and strong, vibrant local communities are vital. Many need a voice. I am delighted to represent the people, families and businesses of Eastern Rother. They all matter and it is a privilege to do so."
